noone's a poser yet everyone's a poser

Wed Feb 16, 2005, 2:09 PM
You know what word I hate? Poser. It's a stupid word that has little to no meaning. Well yes and no. Let me explain, the word poser is often used by punks or goths in order to describe someone who is trying to look/act like that lifestyle when they don't really believe in the ideas behind it. At the same time punks/goths are trying to be different from society. SO basically if a person is a poser they are not fitting into the stereotype of a punk or a goth or whatever group. This is very ironic. Someone who is trying to be different or be themselves is called a poser because they don't fit into a lifestyle that is supposed to be different. If this said poser then changed their ways to fit in with punk society that's when I think that they would be a poser. So if a prep decides that he/she wants to have balck hair in a goth style with skate shoes and a ska shirt, then let them be. DOn't call them a poser when they are trying to be themselves. Whoever calls someone else a poser is in fact themselves a poser, and yes in a way we are all posers. We borrow ideas from one another. But if everybody is one we shouldn't single certain people out. Everyone has the right to be themselves and to express themself the way that they want to. Call me whatever, I don't really give a f*** I'm just going to continue to be me. And I hope we could all do the same.
